African Treasures 1 - Update for the new year

Getting back to this piece has been a challenge, but I'm making good progress and hope to have this pretty much wrapped up by the middle of February.

I find myself going back and forth on that background - how dark to make it, how much do I want it to look like wood... those 'little' decisions that are 'big' ones!

It is fascinating how many different shades of brown one can make with a few pencils...
